Berry Smith’s Commercial Property team has once again been shortlisted for Property Law Firm of the Year at the Insider Wales Property Awards which are being held at Cardiff City Hall on the evening of 2 December 2020.
The Commercial Property team is led by partners Martin Pursall and Chris Jones with consultant Roger Berry, all of whom are recommended in the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners legal directories. The department has a total of 11 fee earners plus 6 support staff.
Over the last year, the team been involved with increased workloads in secured lending and development and have witnessed an increase in commercial property activity generally. The team are well placed with a strong and experienced team to deal with any continued expansion of commercial property work.
The Commercial Property team has continued to strengthen and develop its relationships with locally based banks and financial institutions including the Development Bank of Wales, Principality Commercial, Handelsbanken and HSBC and with various housebuilders and commercial developers including Waterstone Homes, Jehu Group, Portabella, Vastint Hospitality and Mumbles Group. It has also seen a significant increase in work relating to the National Procurement Service Legal Services Framework Agreement for public sector work advising Welsh Government, various local authorities and other public sector organisations on commercial property matters. New clients in the last year have included Cadwaladers (Ice Cream), Tenovus Cancer Care and Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust
The firm has dealt with a wide range of significant commercial property transactions over the last twelve months acting for local, national and international organisations from a range of sectors including manufacturing, life science, hotels, finance, residential and commercial development, public sector and health care.
